HealthMark Multimedia announces release of Innovative program for breast cancer survivors.

Washington, DC, Tuesday May 1, 2007 - Moving On™: Tools for Breast Cancer Survivors® helps women who are recovering from breast cancer treatment cope with the physical and psychological sequelae of the disease and treatment.

Moving On™ CD-ROM provides female breast cancer survivors with interactive tools to help them embrace their future while coping with the physical and psychosocial challenges that follow treatment. Four breast cancer survivors guide users and create a context of encouragement in three areas: recovering from treatment, living as a survivor, and monitoring one's health.

Tools in the CD-ROM are as follows:

  • Recovery: Assessing and Overcoming Fatigue & Chemobrain, Overcoming Barriers to Exercise, Assessing and Tracking Your Upper Body Flexibility, Exercise for Recovery, What is important to me now, Relaxation, and Good Nutrition
  • My Life: A New Normal, Loving this Body, Living with Fear of Recurrence, Enjoying Intimacy, and Starting Conversations with People in My Life (partner, children, others)
  • Monitoring Health: Keeping track of Medical Information, Follow-Up Care after Breast Cancer, Fertility after Breast Cancer, Questions about Menopause, Preventing and Managing Lymphedema, and Family Cancer History.

Unlike print materials, DVD/videos, or web-based text, these tools allow survivors to weed out irrelevant information while building practical "to-do lists" for immediate action. For example, in the Fatigue & Chemobrain tool, a survivor will find twelve possible contributing factors. She might select "Change in Hormones" or "Difficulty Sleeping" to explore further and then build a printable list of suggestions to discuss with her doctor or to implement herself.

All educational content was reviewed by medical experts during creation and before publication. The title represents the only CD-ROM that focuses on the physical and psychosocial recovery of women with breast cancer. It is available to consumers through www.yourdecisionnotebook.com for $19.95. Institutional editions of the CD-ROM are also available. The content is also available for licensing to health websites as interactive tools.
