HealthMark Multimedia Wins Merit Award for Sun Safe Web Site

Web site recieves "Seal of Quality" for Electronic Health Information

Washington, DC, July 28, 2004 - HealthMark Multimedia has been awarded the Merit Award in the Sprint 2004 World Wide Web Health Awards. The awards, organized by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC) are granted for success in reaching the target audience and in overall quality. HealthMark was recognized for Sun Safe Central™, its web site designed to teach adults how to protect preschool-age children from the harmful effects of the sun and help children learn sun protection behaviors.

HIRC is a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials.This Web-based health awards are an extension of the HIRC's 10-year old National Health Information Awards (NHIA), the largest program of its kind in the United States. There were nearly 1,100 entries in the 2003 National Health Information Awards from hundreds of organizations.

Sun Safe Central and its companion product, The Adventures with the Shady Characters® game, are available in English and Spanish. The Adventures with the Shady Characters® teaches children to play in the shade, dress for sun and use sunscreen. Animal characters sing, talk and stay sun safe in a computer game for preschoolers.

Funding for the web site development was provided through a contract from the NCI's Small Business Innovation Research Program.
